It’s graduation time!! 150 lucky students will get the opportunity to celebrate at Universal’s Middle School Gradventure 2012 at Islands of Adventure. On May 18, 2012 Universal will close the park to the public and re-open from 7pm to Midnight just for graduating 8th grade students from all over the state. Grad Nite students and chaperones will be able to enjoy all the attractions at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.

The cost this year will be $80.00. This price includes the park ticket, money to cover transportation, and a Grad Nite shirt that all participating students will be required to wear as Grad Nite dress code. Only 150 Grad Nite tickets will be available. This is approximately 1/3 of the eighth grade population. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 5 and are sold on a first come, first serve basis, and tickets will not be reserved for students. Permission slips are required at the time of ticket purchase. Disciplines will be checked when purchasing tickets.

Please be aware: Any student receiving more than 3 write-ups that result in LIP, IR or OSS, or 5 or more days of OSS in the entire 2011-2012 school year will not be allowed to attend Grad Nite.   Even if the write-up occurs after purchasing a ticket, the student will still not be allowed to attend. Refunds for these tickets are not guaranteed and will depend upon whether or not the ticket can be resold.

Students will be allowed to take their cell phones. However, they are responsible for them. The school and Universal will not be responsible should they get lost or stolen. All cell phones must be kept on vibrate or private on the bus.

Students are required to wear the Grad Nite shirt provided with their ticket purchase, jeans or khaki-style pants, and a belt. No shorts. The pants should have pockets and be relaxed fit. Shirts are to be tucked in. No backpacks, purses, or hats are allowed in the park. If students choose to take backpacks or purses they will have to leave them on the busses.

We anticipate having enough staff to chaperone this event. However, if you are interested in chaperoning in the event that we do not have the staff needed, please put your name and phone number on your child’s permission slip. Parents will pick up their children at the DMS cafeteria where each student will need to be signed out before they are allowed to leave. More information on the sign-out policy will be sent home with students prior to Grad Nite.
