Brittany Hines
Dean of Students - 7th Grade
I am Brittany Hines, currently serving as the Dean of Students at DeSoto Middle School, where I oversee the AVID Program and the PBIS Program. Born and raised in Arcadia, Florida, I am deeply rooted in this community and proud to have walked the same halls as our students during my own education.
My journey in education began after graduating from DHS in 2003, where I pursued higher education on a Softball Scholarship at Warner University. There, I earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education in the Winter of 2007. Following this, I dedicated two years to substitute teaching within our school district before joining the High School faculty in 2009, where I also served as a softball coach.
My commitment to education and leadership led me to teach Physical Education and the AVID Elective at DeSoto Middle School from 2012 until 2021, when I completed my master's degree in Educational Leadership. Since then, I have served in an administrative role here, continuing to foster a supportive and enriching environment for our students.
Catherine Reichley
Dean of Students - 8th Grade
I have had the privilege of serving Florida schools as an educator for 13 years. My journey in education began at SFCC and Warner University where I earned my Bachelors in Exceptional Student Education. My experience at WU provided me with an opportunity to join the faculty at Alturas Elementary School after completing my degree mid school year. In the year and a half I worked at Alturas I worked with students with special needs in grades K-5. In 2012 I was privileged to return to my home town of Arcadia and to join the faculty at DeSoto County High School, facilitating the learning journey of high school students with special needs. My passion for science eventually led me to join the science department, where I taught Astronomy and Earth Space Science.
During my time in the science department, I was honored to serve as the department head for three years. It was also during this period that I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. This achievement opened the door for me to serve the School District of DeSoto County as an Instructional Technology Coach, a role that allowed me to hone my leadership skills and work closely with the dedicated teachers in our district.
In January 2024, I was thrilled to join the administrative team at DeSoto Middle School as the 8th grade dean. I am excited to continue in this role for the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to making a positive impact on our students and community.
